MillionTECH will sponsor The Hong Kong Youth Hostels Association "HKYHA Ngong Ping Charity Walk (NPCW )” in the year of 2008. As a Barcode Technology Sponsor, the company provides the association 15pcs of 2D barcode handheld scanner DENSO BHT-304QB and 2,000pcs of wristband (with 2D barcode containing participant data) for tracking purpose. The company will tailor-make a program and will upload it to the handhelds for capturing the arrival time of each participant when they pass through the checkpoints.
Quick Response (QR) Code is printed on the wristbands because of QR Code’s outstanding features. Even the codes were printed on holes of the wristbands (refer to the picture), the damaged code WILL NOT AFFECT the reading speed.
- QR code is capable of multi-direction high speed reading, it is capable for 360 degrees (omni-directional), high speed reading. The code accomplishes this task through position detection patterns located at the three corners of the symbol. These position detection patterns guarantee stable high-speed reading, circum venting the negative effects of background interference. QR Code is more efficient than one-dimensional barcode in scanning.
This is the reason why QR Code is widely used in Japan. We do believe that this technology will be further developed in Hong Kong market in the near future.
