The Sowers Action Challenging 12 Hours Charity Marathon 2008 was completed on 19 Oct. It is the forth-consecutive year that MillionTech has sponsored the event by providing 16 sets of 2D barcode handheld scanner DENSO BHT-304QB and 2,000 pcs of wristband (with 2D barcode containing participant data) for tackling purpose. The program deployed in the handheld terminals captures the arrival time of each participant when they pass though the checkpoints.
MillionTECH has appointed a team from the company to participate the corporation cup championship. All participants are required to combat in a 42km portion of the Wilson Trail beginning in Yau Tong and ending in Tai Po within 12 hours. “The event let us experienced the hardship of children from the rural mountainous regions whom has to walk long hours daily to go to school. The barcode solution was a success in monitoring the walking time for each participant along the whole track. ”, said by Pierre To, Sales Executive of MillionTECH, who was the second time participating in the charity marathon.
Sowers Action is a non-religious, non-political and non-profit-making charity, established in Hong Kong since 1992, with the objective to help students get out of poverty though education. Up to end of May 2008, Sowers Action has financed construction or modification straight forwardly of 800 primary and 16 secondary school premises and subsidized more than 240,000 primary and secondary schools student, with cumulative funding nearly RMB200 million.
