As the chairman of Hong Kong Retail Technology Industry Association (RTIA) Ltd., Mr. Nelson Tse, Sales & Marketing Director of MillionTECH, acted as a delegate leader of Retail Technology Mission to bring Hong Kong retailers and retail technology companies to Japan for learning the latest retail technologies & solutions. This mission is jointly organized by RTIA and Hong Kong Trade Development Council (TDC), and is supported by Office of the Government Chief Information Officer (OGCIO). Mr. Tse brought 22 delegates from 17 Hong Kong companies to visit 7 Japanese companies within 5 days in Japan from 5 to 9 March 2007. Delegate group members comprise Retailers including Baleno, City Super, Neo Derm (HK), Sincere, Diary Farm & Water Oasis, and Retail Technology companies. Japanese companies include Nomura Research Institute, Hitachi, NEC, Distribution Systems Research Institute, Denso Ware Japan and NTT Data, etc. During visits, Mr. Tse chaired the meetings introducing the Hong Kong delegate members to the Japanese companies, put forward questions and facilitated the discussion. This is a golden opportunity for Hong Kong retailers and retail technology companies to exchange views on the latest retail technologies or solutions. Moreover, the group visited the 23rd RETAILTECH JAPAN which is one of the world's largest specialized trade shows on information systems in the retail industry. During shows, the delegates visited a vast collection of cutting-edge retail solutions as well as related services, ranging from store systems (e.g., POS registers) to head-office systems, reward point cards, electronic data interchange (EDI), radio frequency identification (RFID) and logistics solutions, wireless payment, etc. Delegates learnt new ways to utilize information systems to improve the operational efficiency of stores and further enhance their competitiveness. Mr. Tse, chairman of RTIA said, “Hopefully this Retail Technology Mission to Japan successfully brought the latest technologies & solutions to Hong Kong Retailers and Retail Technology companies”.
